PRACTICAL INFORMATION | |
Bike Lanes! | You have to bike only on the right (right like left) side on the street or boardwalk if it is eligible for biking. Sometimes you can choose if driving on street or bike trail, sometimes you are forced to use either or, depending on the signs. If you don`t bike on the right side (it is only law for a few years now) you may get angry Germans/bikers shouting "wrong side!" And the police might fine you. Bikers are allowes in one way streets where signs show so (Helmets are not mandatory.) |
Returnable Bottles | Most plastic and glass bottles as well as drink cans are returnable. To be done in supermarkets or kiosks. |

PRE-REGISTER | |
City Bikes "Stadtrad Hamburg" | You can register and download an app. Bikes are red and stations are many. The bicycles do work very well. Every ride until 30min is free (once registered for 5€), you can check in with your money card or by cell phone. There are 3 stations nearby |
City car "Car 2 Go" | You can register and download an app. Registration involves validating your drivers license, so it makes sense to do this before your arrival. Cars are mostly little "Smart" cars. (There is a second service in Hamburg, "Drive Now" that uses Mini and BMW.) |
